Sunday School

9:00 AM

• Nursery care is available for children  6 week of age through two years old.  The Nursery is located next to the church office.

• Sunday school classes are offered for children age three through fifth grade. 

• Kindergarteners through third graders start off the service in the sanctuary with their parents.  They are dismissed to class after the children's message.  Preschoolers may be brought to classroom one before the service, or they may attend the children's message and come to class at the same time as the older children.

• 4th and 5th graders go directly to classroom 5 at the start of the service.

• Sunday school is also offered for youth at the 9:00 hour.  Junior high meets in room 6 and Senior high meets in room 7.

Special Events

• Rally Sunday Join us for the start of Fall Sunday school in September! Meet your new teachers and learn about the many Children's Programs.

• Birthday Card Program - By Registering your children for Sunday School you are also enrolling them in our birthday card program.  The Children's Ministry Team will help them celebrate their special day with a card and a treat!

• 3rd Grade Bible Presentation - DSUMC is delighted to present a new bible to all of our incoming 3rd Graders to encourage their study of God's word.  This event takes place annually in October.

• Tweens - The Tween group is for kids grades 3-5 who do not feel like little kids any more, but aren’t quite old enough for youth group.  The Tween group meets once at month, the third Sunday of the month, at 2 pm at the church.  The group held their first meeting on September 17, 2006 with ten kids and planned their fall meetings:

  October 15, 2006—Halloween games and masks
  November 19, 2006—Thanksgiving decorating
  December 17, 2006—Christmas crafts and caroling

  New members are welcome so come, join us and bring your friends. 

   

• Happy Birthday Jesus Party - We celebrate Jesus' upcoming birth with cake, carols, games and crafts.

• Easter Party - Our Annual Easter party is held on the Saturday before Easter.  The fun includes, stories, games, crafts, and  of course, an Easter egg hunt.

• Vacation Bible School (VBS) - This is held annually the last week of July.  Our church hosts this fun event for DSUMC children, their friends, and our community.   Registration begins in June for this special week.   This event is an outreach to the public and we need many volunteers to make it happen!

• Summer Camps - Our church camp, Potosi Pines, is located in the nearby mountain, providing camping and retreat opportunities for all.  Check back for Summer 2006 information posted here when it becomes available.

• Church Choir -  Desert Spring Arts Community Children's Choir

  First Verse-  4 1/2 years thru First Grade.

  Two Tone-  Second and Third Graders.

  Spirit Song-  Forth and Fifth Graders.

It looks like Indiana Jones' rec room.  Call it Mayan Lite, the decorating scheme in which the sanctuary of Desert Spring United Methodist Church has been decked out for this year's edition of vacation Bible school.
